Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Arif Masood has reached Supreme Court against Waqf amendment. He has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the new law. He has given this petition personally. It has been demanded that the new law be repealed. If necessary, the Waqf law should be amended in a new way. Arif Masood is also an executive member of the Muslim Personal Law Board and is an MLA from Bhopal Central. The petition will be heard on April 15.
The Congress MLA said, “I have filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the Waqf law. I hope our advocate Narendra Mishra is very capable. He has definitely filed a petition with very good facts. We have pointed out the shortcomings. There is a Central Waqf, which has 22 members. You have made 12 of them non-Muslim. When you have already done this, then justice is over.” Arif Masood further said, “The second thing you have said that one property will be taken and given to another, is not mentioned anywhere in that law. This is creating confusion among the people. A petition has been filed regarding all these changes. Hopefully our lawyers will fight the case with full force and we will get justice from the Supreme Court. This law will be repealed.”
Ever since the Waqf Amendment Bill was introduced in the Parliament, Arif Masood has been opposing it. Earlier, in a protest organized at the Central Library Ground on the call of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, he had said, “Whoever wants to go wherever, let them go there but we will fight for Allah’s law till the last breath. Waqf estates do not belong to kings and emperors. Whoever Allah instructed, gave his land in the way of Allah. These lands belong to the Waqf and will remain Waqf. You do not want to remove illegal occupation but you only want to trouble.”
