New Delhi: America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has received a setback from the court before taking the oath of office on January 20. The US judge has rejected Trump’s petition to cancel his sentence in the Hush Money case.
The court has rejected Trump’s petition to cancel the Supreme Court’s sentence in the Hush Money case. Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan rejected Trump’s petition. During this, Trump’s defenders argued that the continuation of this case would hamper Trump’s abilities as president and he would not be able to run the government well.
What is the Hush Money case?
Donald Trump had sexual relations with adult star Stormy Daniels in 2006. This matter was very much discussed in the 2016 presidential election. Stormy was threatening to make this incident public, after which Trump secretly paid her. Trump has been convicted of falsifying business records to hide a payment of $130,000 to Daniels.
Earlier, Stormy Daniels had told the court that when she first saw Trump, he was wearing silk pajamas. Narrating that incident, Stormy Daniels had said that Trump had asked me about my career in the adult industry. He had asked if I had got tested for sexually transmitted diseases.

Trump will take oath as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025. The Republican Party has regained control of the Senate, where they have 52 seats while the Democrats have 47. Republicans have also maintained a lead in the House of Representatives, where they have 216 seats while the Democrats have 209 seats.
