Ahmedabad: Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, has received an offer from a political party to contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections. This party named Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena (UBVS) is registered with the Election Commission of India and Maharashtra State Election Commission. Its national president Sunil Shukla has written a letter to Lawrence Bishnoi requesting him to contest elections in Maharashtra.

According to Sunil Shukla, so far the names of 4 candidates of Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena have been finalized to contest elections in Mumbai. With the approval of Lawrence Bishnoi, a list of 50 more candidates will be announced soon. He has said in a letter to Lawrence, ‘We are proud that you are a North Indian born in Punjab and we are a national and Maharashtra state registered political party in the name of Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena, which is working for the rights of North Indians in India.’

In a letter to Lawrence Bishnoi, UBVS President Sunil Shukla has said, ‘We see Shaheed Bhagat Singh in you. North Indians from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand and five other North Indian states, who were born and brought up in Maharashtra, who are OBCs, SCs and STs, have been denied reservation only because their ancestors were North Indians.

If India is a unit then why are we deprived of this right?’ Sushil Shukla further wrote, ‘We propose you to contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The workers and office bearers of Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena will ensure that you win the election with a great performance and deliver your society. We are waiting for your yes.’
