‘The deadlock with the Indian Army in Ladakh is over…’, China confirms agreement on border patrolling

October 22, 2024

New Delhi: The standoff between India and China on the LAC that has been going on since 2020 has ended. China on Tuesday officially confirmed that a common consensus has been reached to end the military standoff on the LAC. After this confirmation by China, now both the armies will return to the old place in eastern Ladakh. Earlier on Monday, the Indian Foreign Secretary had also announced this.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that for some time now, both the countries have been continuously talking at both diplomatic and military levels regarding the India-China border. Now an agreement has been reached between the two sides on this matter and we will work on it with India.

The long-standing bitterness in the relations between India and China got a relief on Monday when an agreement was reached between the two countries regarding the disputed patrolling points. According to this agreement, the Indian Army will be able to start patrolling here again.

Xi Jinping will participate in many big and small BRICS meetings. These include BRICS Plus Dialogue. Experts believe that bilateral talks are expected in BRICS between the heads of the two superpowers of Asia. The border dispute between India and China was the biggest problem but with Monday’s decision, it also seems to be ending. This meeting will be like melting the ice on the relationship.

Experts believe that the bitterness in the relations between India and China has increased since the clash in Galwan in 2020. Due to this, it will take time to repair these relations but this agreement will be like a new beginning for both the countries.

Prime Minister Modi and Jinping last held talks during the BRICS meeting in South Africa in 2023. Earlier in 2020, PM Modi and Xi Jinping also attended the G-20 Summit. But during this time there was no bilateral conversation between the two. Let us tell you that there have been major changes in geopolitics in the recent past and China’s relations with western countries are not that smooth anymore. Due to this reason also, China is being seen on the backfoot.
