Khajuraho. Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for a long time, may not be in this post now and has become the Union Agriculture Minister, but his charm in the hearts of the people of the state is still the same as it was when he used to be the Chief Minister. A sample of this was also seen in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself on Wednesday, when he reached Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various public welfare schemes.
Before his address in the program, when Prime Minister Modi was greeting everyone on the stage by taking their name one by one, during this time he also took the name of the current Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, but on hearing his name, the public remained completely silent. Then after this, as soon as the Prime Minister took the name of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan by calling him Union Minister, the enthusiasm and excitement of the public was worth seeing. They not only cheered Shivraj by making noise but also congratulated him by clapping loudly.
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had arrived in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday to start many development works including laying the foundation stone of ‘Ken-Betwa River Link Project’. On this occasion, he also virtually inaugurated the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Plant located in Khandwa district of the state and also laid the foundation stone of Daudhan Irrigation Project. In the Khajuraho program, the PM also performed Bhoomi Pujan for the construction of 1,153 Atal Gram Seva Sadans at a cost of Rs 437 crore.
The Prime Minister said that linking the Ken-Betwa river will open new doors of prosperity and happiness in the Bundelkhand region. During this, Union Water Resources Minister CR Patil and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav handed over two urns filled with water from Betwa and Ken rivers respectively to Modi, who poured it on a model of the project to start the work of river linking.
Officials said that under this project, about 44 lakh people of 10 districts of Madhya Pradesh and 21 lakh people of Uttar Pradesh will get drinking water. They said that the total cost of this project is estimated to be Rs 44,605 crore.
Officials said that about 7.18 lakh farmer families of two thousand villages will benefit from this project. It will also generate 103 MW hydroelectricity and 27 MW solar energy. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi also released a commemorative stamp and coin in memory of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth centenary. The then Vajpayee government had proposed to link rivers to meet irrigation needs as well as to deal with floods.
