New Delhi. Punjab Police on Wednesday detained farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher in Mohali. During this, there was a clash between farmers and security forces when farmers were trying to march towards Khanauri and Shambhu border points. Farmers were protesting at both these places since February 13, 2024. According to the information, about 3000 police personnel have been deployed at both Shambhu and Khanauri.

– Police has demolished the barricades built by farmers at Shambhu border with a bulldozer.
-Farmers blocked the toll plaza on the Amritsar-Delhi highway against the detention of farmer leaders. He said that we have no enmity with the people. They do not want to be harassed. Just have to block some toll plazas and express our anger to the government.
-Punjab Police demolished the tents set up by farmers on the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border, where they were sitting on a dharna for various demands. Farmers are also being removed from Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border.
-Former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi said, “Farmers are being attacked as part of a conspiracy. Not only Punjab but the entire farmer community is facing a major attack today. A meeting was held today (in Chandigarh) in which it was decided that the next round of talks would be held on May 4 but they (farmers) were attacked from behind and deceived. The road has been blocked by the government, not the farmers. They (farmers) want to come to Delhi.” -On the action, Patiala SSP Nanak Singh said that farmers were protesting at Shambhu border for a long time. In the presence of the duty magistrate, the police evacuated the area after giving them proper warning. Some people expressed their desire to go home. So they were sent home by bus. -The SSP said that apart from this, the structures and vehicles here are being removed. The entire road will be cleared and opened for traffic. Haryana Police will also start its action. As soon as the road opens from their side, the movement on the highway will resume. We did not have to use any force, as there was no protest. The farmers cooperated well and they themselves boarded the buses.
-After the farmers were taken into custody, more and more farmers have started reaching the borders. Farmer organizations have appealed to the farmers to reach Khanauri border in maximum numbers. The farmers raised slogans against the Punjab government.
-The police removed the fans from the temporary stage built by the farmers, where they were sitting on a dharna with various demands.
-Sarwan Singh Pandher and all the farmer leaders have been brought to the Bahadurgarh Commando Training Center.

The seventh meeting also did not yield any result
The meeting between the farmer leaders and the central delegation in Chandigarh did not yield any concrete result. The meeting lasted for more than three hours, in which Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the interest of the farmers was paramount. He said that the talks were positive and constructive, and the next meeting would be held on May 4. Soon after the meeting, when the farmer leaders reached Mohali from Chandigarh, the police barricaded them heavily and stopped them from proceeding.
During this, Sarwan Singh Pandher, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Abhimanyu Kohar, Kaka Singh Kotra and Manjit Singh Rai were detained. The police have also deployed heavy security forces at Shambhu and Khanauri border points. According to the information, the government has made a strategy to vacate the Shambhu and Khanauri border, under which this action was taken. All these leaders have been struggling for a long time regarding the demands of the farmers and are appealing to the government to fulfill other demands including legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP).
