New Delhi: Former Delhi Government minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendra Jain has been granted bail by a Delhi court in a money laundering case. The court has granted him conditional bail, he will not be able to go out of the country. The court said that Satyendra Jain has served his sentence by being in jail for about 18 months. However, the ED has opposed Satyendra Jain’s bail. But the court said that he has served a long sentence in jail. The court said that Satyendra Jain’s bail application is accepted, he will have to fill a personal bond of Rs 50,000.
While granting bail, the High Court cited Satyendra Jain’s long custody and also referred to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Manish Sisodia case, which emphasized the right to speedy trial as a fundamental right. While delivering its verdict, the court emphasised the importance of personal liberty, especially when it comes to a case involving stringent laws like the PMLA. The court’s order relied heavily on the Supreme Court’s decision in the Manish Sisodia case, which set a precedent regarding the right to a speedy trial.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is advocating the case, strongly opposed Satyendra Jain’s bail plea. However, the court said that Jain has already spent a lot of time in custody and the trial is unlikely to start in the near future, let alone complete it. The High Court said that Satyendra Jain is also entitled to bail based on the parameters laid down in the Manish Sisodia case.
The court has granted bail to Satyendra Jain on a personal bond of Rs 50,000. Under the bail conditions, Satyendra Jain will not be able to contact any witness or person related to the case. He will not influence the trial in any way. Apart from this, the AAP leader will also be barred from traveling outside India without the prior permission of the court.
Satyendra Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on 30 May 2022 on charges of money laundering through 4 companies allegedly linked to him. Let us tell you that after Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, Satyendra Jain is the fourth leader of the Aam Aadmi Party to be granted bail in different cases of money laundering.
After Satyendra Jain got bail, AAP leader Manish Sisodia said in a post on X that the dictatorship of the dictator has been slapped once again. Satyendra Jain was kept in jail for so long by making false and baseless allegations. Raided his house four times, but nothing was found, still kept in jail by making a false case of PMLA.
Thanks to the judiciary of the country for supporting truth and justice. Satyamev Jayate. Long live the Constitution of the country. At the same time, Satyendra Jain’s daughter Shreya Jain said that we always knew that this would happen, it was just a matter of time. It seems like Diwali came early for us this year.
