Lucknow: Samajwadi Party’s national president Akhilesh Yadav has written an open letter to the people of UP, in which he has expressed concern over the deaths due to road accidents. He said that the maximum number of deaths in road accidents are happening in UP. Akhilesh appealed to the public to leave their homes relying on the ‘roads and traffic system hit by BJP corruption’ and warn themselves and their children about the dangers of the road.
The SP chief said that in the BJP government of UP, traffic rules are not followed but exploited. The BJP government is not interested in implementing the rules, their entire focus is on recovery and extortion. Akhilesh has also told the main reasons for road accidents. He said that the roads are broken, the vehicles are illegal, there is no check on over speeding, the helmet rule is just a means to grease the palms, drivers without license are driving vehicles recklessly, eyes are closed on overloading.
Only recovery in the name of fines: SP chief
The SP chief said that old dilapidated vehicles in UP have become a danger for everyone, only money is being collected in the name of fines for drunk driving, roads are becoming narrow due to arbitrary parking and encroachment and causing accidents, there is no one to enforce the rules of crossing the road, the traffic police stands in the middle of the intersections and waits to extort money hiding in corners rather than enforce the rules.
The CM is not interested in anything except bulldozer: Akhilesh
He said that a new digital way of extorting money in someone else’s name has been found through mobile phones, it is prevalent in the Transport Ministry and Department: the more corrupt the more he is. Ministers are roaming around as election in-charges rather than ministers. The Chief Minister is neutral, he is not interested in any vehicle other than bulldozer…
…Save your own life: SP President
The SP chief said that there are many other reasons due to which vehicles in UP are continuously getting into accidents. That is why our appeal is to the elderly, drivers, guardians and children who cross the road alone. “Be ‘cautious’ of the dangers on the road and save your own life.”
