Sambhal: Hindu families who had migrated after the 1978 riots in Sambhal, UP, have got justice after 46 years. SDM has given them ownership rights on 10 thousand square feet of land. This land was occupied by Muslim families since the riots. When CM Yogi mentioned the Sambhal riots in the assembly, the affected families had given a complaint letter to the administration and pleaded for ownership rights on the land.
Three families who had migrated from the area after the murder of a member of the family in the 1978 communal riots in Sambhal have got justice after 46 years. When the mention of the 1978 riots started, the victim families also gave a complaint letter to the administration and requested to remove the Muslims from the land. When the administration became active, on Tuesday, after 46 years, the families were given possession of 10 thousand square feet of land.
Tulsiram, a resident of Mohalla Jagat in Sambhal Sadar Kotwali area, was murdered in the communal riots of 1978, but after the murder, the family of the deceased Tulsiram along with two other families left their two and a quarter bigha land and migrated from this area. After the riots, neither the family of the deceased Tulsiram returned nor the families who migrated returned. After this, the Muslims occupied the lands of the deceased Tulsiram and other families.
Mention of riots came after the discovery of Kartikeya temple
When the doors of Kartikeya Mahadev temple in Khaggu Sarai area in Sambhal were opened after 46 years on December 14, the mention of those communal riots of 1978 also started in Sambhal and many riot-affected families also came forward. The riots which had changed the situation of Sambhal in every way. Amidst the mention of the communal riots of 1978, the victim family met SDM Vandana Mishra and requested for getting possession of the land, then the SDM called for the documents from the complainant victim family and checked them.
School was running on the occupied land
After this, on Tuesday, SDM Vandana Mishra and Additional Superintendent of Police Shrishchandra reached the spot with the police force and the team of the Revenue Department along with the affected families, a school was running there and some space was lying vacant nearby. After this, SDM Vandana Mishra got the land measured by the Revenue Department team as per the documents of the affected families and got the possession on the spot. The administration team has also measured the land and marked it with lime to give possession to the families affected by the 1978 riots after 46 years.
What did the affected families say?
Asha Devi, a woman from the affected family, said that we have two and a quarter bighas of land here and when the 1978 riots took place, we left this land here and went away. Now a complaint was made by us to the administration, so today we got the information that your land is being measured, so we have also come to the spot. After that riot, this land was occupied by Muslims and whenever we used to come to see it, they used to drive us away from here saying that it is a school.
Amresh Kumar told that when the riots of 1978 took place, our grandfather was killed in that riot and after that we migrated from here. Whenever we used to come here, we were driven away from here, but now we have a hope of getting land.
What did the SDM say?
SDM Vandana Mishra told that in relation to this matter, a complaint letter was given by the family of Ram Bharose and it was informed that the people of the school committee have illegally occupied their land. The information measured on reaching the spot turned out to be correct and their land was coming out. After this, the victim family was called on the spot and possession was given. SDM told that there was a total of 15 thousand square feet of land, out of which possession has been given on 10 thousand square feet of land.
