Ranya Rao used to wear special dress while bringing gold, Dubai was her second home

Mumbai: Ranya Rao, who was caught in the gold smuggling case, had a similar travel history from India to Dubai. So far, many layers have been revealed in Ranya Rao’s case. But the new revelations are surprising. These revelations are related to Ranya’s travel history and her special dress code. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) is investigating Ranya’s travel pattern to find out about her gold smuggling activities. Officials are gathering complete information about the airports in India from where Ranya Rao has traveled.

Investigations so far have revealed that Ranya has traveled abroad 90 times since 2020. She has traveled 60 times from Bengaluru International Airport. She has traveled 25 times from Mumbai International Airport. She has traveled twice each from Chennai and Hyderabad and once from Kolkata.

Not only this, Ranya made 46 trips between January 2024 and March 2025. All these 46 trips were from Bengaluru International Airport to Dubai. Despite having a Dubai identity card, most of Ranya’s trips were on tourist visa. Investigation has revealed that Ranya would leave from Bengaluru International Airport and return from Dubai within 24 hours.

Ranya started this travel pattern on 28 July 2023. So far 51 such trips have been made. This strengthens the fact that gold was smuggled in each of these trips. The matter ends here. Ranya’s dress code was also a big weapon for smuggling, which is slowly being revealed. When the officials looked at her travel dates to understand her dressing pattern, surprising things came to the fore. She usually went to Dubai in casual dress and returned wearing jeans and jacket. She never returned without wearing a jacket. These were also specially designed. Mostly she used to take the help of protocol officers to get out of the airport easily.

Many revelations have been made about Ranya’s business friend Tarun Raju. Tarun allegedly used to arrange money for Ranya’s smuggling activities. His family’s assets are worth thousands of crores of rupees. He has been friends with Ranya since college days. Ranya has not worked in any film since 2017. It has come to light that Ranya started smuggling gold after 2023.
