New York. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and MP from Rae Bareli Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit to America. Rahul arrived at Boston Logan International Airport in the United States on Saturday (local time). He was welcomed very warmly here. During his visit, Rahul Gandhi will visit Brown University in Rhode Island. Here he will interact with faculty members and students. Rahul can also interact with members of the NRI community, office bearers and members of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC).
Rahul’s full program
Earlier, Congress leader Pawan Khera had given information about Rahul Gandhi’s US visit in a post on ‘X’. He had said, ‘Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi will visit Brown University in Rhode Island, America on 21 and 22 April. Rahul will also deliver an address there. He will interact with faculty members and students of the university.’
Rahul’s second visit to the US in recent months
This is Rahul Gandhi’s second visit to the US in recent months. Earlier in September 2024, Rahul Gandhi made a three-day visit to the US. During his visit, he went to Dallas, where he interacted with students and teachers at the University of Texas and addressed members of the Indian diaspora. From Dallas, Rahul went to Washington DC, where he interacted with students and teachers at Georgetown University. This was Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to the US after becoming the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Statements from the previous visit had created a political storm
Rahul Gandhi’s previous visit had created a political storm after his remarks about abolishing the reservation system in India. He had said that the reservation system in India would be abolished when the country becomes a fair place. He had also stressed the need for a caste census. He had argued that 90 per cent of the country’s population is OBCs, Dalits and Adivasis. He is not getting adequate representation. When we talk about capture of institutions, businesses and media, 90 per cent of India’s OBCs, Dalits, Adivasis are not even part of the game. This is really the elephant in the room.
