Punjab: AAP MLA Gurpreet Gogi dies of gunshot

Ludhiana. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Ludhiana, Punjab, Gurpreet Gogi died after being shot in the head. Gogi was an AAP MLA from Ludhiana West Assembly constituency. According to the police, after being shot, doctors examined him in the hospital, after which he was declared dead.

This incident happened on Friday night (11.30 pm). According to the information, the bullet hit Gogi in the head. There was chaos in the house as soon as the sound of fire was heard. When the family members went to the room and saw, he was lying soaked in blood, after which the family took him to the hospital.

Ludhiana DCP Jaskaran Singh Teja said, according to the family and the people present in the house, Gurpreet Gogi died due to a bullet injury in the head from his own accidental fire. He was declared dead when taken to the hospital. His body has been kept in the mortuary of DMC Hospital. The postmortem of the body will be done on Saturday.

Joined AAP in 2022
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jaskaran Singh Teja said that it would be premature to say anything in the case of the MLA’s death. Investigation is going on. Let us tell you that Gogi joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2022. He defeated two-time former Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu from Ludhiana during the assembly elections in Punjab.

Supporters started gathering outside the hospital
After the death of the Aam Aadmi Party MLA, his supporters started gathering outside the DMC Hospital in Ludhiana. In view of the incident, heavy police force was deployed outside the hospital. The police is not giving any open information in this matter at the moment. According to police officials, he died due to bullet injury. However, the police is not telling under what circumstances he was shot.

AAP MLA expressed grief over the death
Reactions of Aam Aadmi Party leaders have also started coming on the death of MLA Gurpreet Gogi. Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Amritsar East, Jeevan Jyot Kaur, has expressed grief over Gogi’s death by posting on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). She has written that this incident is not only shocking but also unbelievable. Our fellow MLA Gurpreet Gogi is no more among us. May God give peace to his soul.
