Preparations to form ‘Muslim NATO’, more than 20 countries including Pakistan will be included, what will be the impact on India?

New Delhi. About 9 years ago in December 2015, an organization named Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) was formed. 42 Muslim countries of Asia and Africa formed it against terrorism. This organization is still active today. But it seems that now a new organization is going to be formed, which will be named Islamic NATO and Muslim NATO.

It has not yet been confirmed how many countries will be in this group. Will there be 42 countries like IMCTC. Or less than that. But according to an estimate, it will have at least 25 countries from Asia and Africa. Now if we talk about the core members of this new group, it will include… Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Malaysia.

The major partner countries supporting them can be-
Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. Five more countries can join them, that too as associate members. These are- Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Brunei. Total 25.

What will be the main objective of this group?
These Muslim countries will together do anti-terrorism operations like NATO. They will modernize their military with each other’s help. They will do defense partnership and cooperation. They will share intelligence information. They will fight external problems for the internal stability of Muslim countries. They will overcome them. They will promote Islamic unity.

How can this group affect India?
Tensions will increase… Due to Islamic NATO, tensions are likely to increase between India and Muslim majority countries. Especially Pakistan, Bangladesh.

Local balance… This group can try to spoil the local political, diplomatic and strategic balance of the Indian peninsula by helping Pakistan and Bangladesh. Terrorism will get a boost.

Kashmir issue… Islamic NATO can escalate the Kashmir dispute. It can try to put pressure on India. So that this issue goes in Pakistan’s favour.

Threat to security… The formation of this group will strengthen Pakistan. Due to which there can be a problem regarding security on the border. The same problem can arise from Bangladesh as well.

Isolated India… If the strength of Islamic NATO increases, then India can get completely isolated in the Indian peninsula or South Asia.
