Permission to cut off electricity during processions
The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the Jharkhand government and its electricity distribution company to stop power supply on the routes of processions during Ram Navami so that no one gets electrocuted. The apex court has given this permission while considering the appeal of the state government against the order of Jharkhand High Court, which had banned cutting off power supply during processions on Ram Navami. A bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and K.V. Vishwanathan amended the order of the High Court. The court ordered Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited to give an affidavit in the High Court that minimum power will be cut on the procession route during the journey.
