PM Internship Portal Launched, 1.25 Lakh Youth to be Selected

  • October 03, 2024

New Delhi: The internship program announced in the Union Budget will provide opportunities to the youth to gain practical experience in various fields. Today, i.e. on October 3, a dedicated internship portal was launched, allowing candidates to directly get in touch with internship opportunities. Students have to register on this portal. Companies will upload their internship vacancies on this portal. Eligible candidates will be able to register on the portal from October 12.

It will be implemented through an online portal developed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), which can be accessed at pminternship.mca.gov.in. Students have to register themselves by visiting this. Sources said that this pilot project has received an overwhelming response from interns and by morning 1077 offers of internship were ready from companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, Max Life and Alembic Pharma.

All the applicants selected under this scheme will get monthly stipend and financial assistance from the Government of India. The scheme aims to benefit more than 1 crore students. Under this scheme, students will be given the opportunity of 12 months, i.e. one year internship in the top 500 companies of India. Under this program, all students who have completed schooling will be eligible for internship.

Under this scheme, only candidates aged 21 to 24 years are eligible to apply. It is worth noting that if the age of a candidate is more than 24 years, then he will not be able to take advantage of this scheme. Along with this, the annual income of the parents in the applicant’s family from all sources should not exceed 8 lakhs. Even if there is a government employee in the family, the candidate will not be eligible for this. People who have obtained degrees from prestigious universities like IIT or IIM or have certificates like CMA or CA are ineligible.

According to the customer service center of the internship portal, youth of 10th-12th pass, diploma, graduation, industrial training institutes (ITI) and skill centers can participate under this scheme. It is worth noting that if the candidate applying is studying in a regular course, then he will not be eligible to apply. If the candidate is pursuing a master’s degree, he/she is also not eligible to apply.

The government will pay a stipend of Rs 4,500 per month to the interns; the firms will contribute an additional Rs 500 from their corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. This means that the candidate will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 5000 once the internship begins. Applicants will receive a one-time financial aid of Rs 6000 in addition to the monthly stipend once the internship begins. A backend bot will be used to create a list of applicants for the internship program, and then the participating organizations will evaluate and select the individuals.
