People in Canada are getting food for their children by staying hungry themselves, society is worried

November 22, 2024

New Delhi: Canada is facing the brunt of inflation these days. The situation is such that people are cutting down on their grocery expenses so that they can provide enough food to their children. This has been revealed in a report. Inflation and unemployment are at their peak in Canada right now. Due to this, people are forced to cut down on their daily expenses. These people are cutting down on essential items like food to keep their expenses under control.

The report says that 25 percent of parents have cut down on their food by 24 percent so that their children can get enough food. In Canada, one out of every four parents is reducing their food expenses for their children.

The Salvation Army has released this report on November 21, in which it has been said that 90 percent of the people surveyed have said that they have reduced their food expenses. Food banks are getting empty. This situation clearly shows how people in Canada are not able to meet their basic needs.

Let us tell you that this report has come at a time when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may announce a reduction in GST on some essential items. In view of the recent economic crisis, the Trudeau government announced a halt on GST and HST on grocery items and children’s clothes for two months from December 14. However, critics believe that this step has been taken keeping the next election in mind.

Salvation Army spokesperson John Murray said that the reality is that many people in Canada are finding it difficult to arrange two meals a day. This reveals a major food crisis in the country. 25 percent of people have reduced their food consumption to provide adequate food to their children. Many people are buying less nutritious food because it is cheaper, while 84 percent of people are skipping one meal due to inflation.
