Pakistani army was involved in Kargil war, confession after 25 years

New Delhi: 25 years after the defeat in Kargil war, Pakistan has publicly accepted that it had a role in the war. On Defense Day, Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir has accepted the truth. In a speech, he said that many Pakistani soldiers have sacrificed their lives in 1948, 1965, 1971 and Kargil and Siachen wars. This is the first time that Pakistan has clearly accepted that many of its soldiers were killed in Kargil. Earlier, Pakistan has been avoiding the direct presence of its army in the war. But the world knows that its soldiers had conspired against India. But they proved unsuccessful in their plans.

At the time of the war, Islamabad had said that it had no military involvement. It had called the infiltrators ‘freedom fighters’ or ‘Mujahideen’. Pakistan had claimed at that time that its army was only on patrol. It was the tribal leaders who had captured the high peaks. Ajay Bisaria, former Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, has also called it the stupidity of Pakistan and General Pervez Musharraf. Due to which Pakistan did not gain anything. According to Ajay, the entire planning was done by a group of 4 generals.

In 1999, the enemy had infiltrated the peaks of Kargil. Kargil had attracted the attention of the world in the scorching heat. A fierce war broke out between India and Pakistan on the LOC. At that time, India’s PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had traveled to Lahore by bus. He had given the message of peace to the world. But it is claimed that the then General Pervez Musharraf had hatched a conspiracy against India. Even the then Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif was not aware of it. However, after the Kargil war, Musharraf had overthrown Nawaz. Military rule was imposed in Pakistan.

527 Indian soldiers had sacrificed their lives in Kargil. However, Pakistan has denied the role of its army in the war. How many of its soldiers were killed? No data is available about this. But defence sources say that 2700 to 4000 Pakistani soldiers were killed in that war. After the Kargil war, Pakistan was disgraced all over the world. Now Pakistan has clearly accepted its role in the war.
