New Delhi: Pakistan is furious after India suspended the Indus River Treaty after the Pahalgam attack. Amidst the possibility of any kind of military action from India, Pakistan is waiting eagerly for help. In such a situation, it is sometimes looking towards China, sometimes towards Saudi Arabia and sometimes towards Britain.
Amidst this tense atmosphere, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called the Chinese Foreign Minister and appealed for help. Dar has not only called China but also Britain’s Foreign Minister David Lammy and other regional counterparts and discussed the situation.
According to local reports, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and made him aware of the current situation. According to a statement issued by Dar’s office, both the leaders opposed unilateral action and hegemonic policies. The statement said that Dar rejected India’s unilateral action and called it propaganda against Pakistan.
At the same time, China’s official newspaper Global Times said that this phone call was made at the request of Pakistan and supported an impartial investigation of the matter. It was hoped that India and Pakistan would exercise restraint.
Let us tell you that 26 people were killed and 17 were injured in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. This attack was carried out in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, in which the terrorists selectively targeted people.
After the Pahalgam attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi suspended the Indus Water Treaty with immediate effect. This is the first time that India has taken such a big and strict action. There have been three major wars between India and Pakistan but this treaty has never been suspended before.
Regarding the decisions taken in the Cabinet Committee meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs had issued a statement stating that the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 has been suspended with immediate effect. This ban will remain in place until Pakistan stops supporting cross-border terrorism.
