New Delhi: Congress’s national convention is being organized in Gujarat. On Wednesday, during the discussion on the proposal on the second day, AICC members talked about the shortcomings of the organization from the open stage and put forth their views. Congress leader from Uttar Pradesh Alok Mishra raised questions on the appointments in the organization. Alok claimed that the party made such a city president, whose one son works in SP and the other in BJP. When Alok was roaring on the stage, the party high command could not stop itself from clapping.

Congress leader Alok Mishra said, a worker who has been in Congress since 1982. Today he appeals for Congress and has come to appeal to you that we will fight BJP later, first Congressmen fight among themselves. Decide once that any decision, which will come from above, we will happily accept it. We will not fight among ourselves until we bring the Congress party to power. We will not rest until we bring the party to power.

‘Is he fit to be the city president?’
He further said, Rahulji and Khargeji, I have come to tell you that you want to remove the BJP and the BJP people in the Congress, so I want to ask you that if there is a city president, whose one son is in SP and one son is in BJP… is he fit to be the city president? Khargeji, I ask you that a person whose one son is in Samajwadi Party and the other son is in Bharatiya Janata Party, is he fit to be the city president. If he is fit to be the city president then we also accept you. But I want to tell you one more thing. You gave me a chance.

‘The city president should not contest the election’
Alok Mishra said, we got 4 lakh 22 thousand votes in Kanpur. I got this chance, which no one got in history since 1947. I have come to request you that we accept the power you have given to the city presidents. But along with that, also decide that whoever will be the city or district president, he will not apply for the election. He will only work for the organization. Decide this as well. Otherwise, every city president and every district president will himself become a candidate for the election.

‘If we win the election, we will decide’
He said, those who have not left Congress like me since 1982, I promise you here that I want to sacrifice my all, for you and for the power of the Congress party. I want to leave everything. Somehow Congress should come to power. When we come to power, we will decide among ourselves. During Alok Mishra’s address, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi were seen clapping.

Let us tell you that in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress had given ticket to Alok Mishra from Kanpur Lok Sabha seat. He was the candidate of India Block. With the support of SP and Congress, Mishra got 422,087 votes and came second. BJP’s Ramesh Awasthi got 443,055 votes and won the election by 20 thousand 968 votes.

Earlier in the 2019 elections, Congress’s Shriprakash Jaiswal contested and got 313,003 votes. BJP’s Satyavrat Chaturvedi got 468,937 votes and won.
