Washington: Thousands of protesters in New York, Washington and hundreds of cities in America held the second big demonstration on Saturday against Donald Trump and his harsh policies. Information about this has been given in the report of news agency AFP.

In New York, protesters gathered outside the city’s main library and demonstrated with posters and banners with slogans like ‘No Kings in America’ and ‘Resist Tyranny’.

    People’s anger against immigration policies
Most of the anger in these demonstrations was against Trump’s immigration policies. People were shouting loudly – ‘No ICE, no fear, immigrants are welcome here’. This slogan was against the US immigration agency ICE i.e. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which detains illegal immigrants.

‘Trump administration is attacking the rule of law’
In Washington DC, protesters accused the Trump administration of weakening constitutional principles, especially the right to ‘due process’. According to the report, Benjamin Douglas, 41, who was protesting outside the White House, said, “This administration is directly attacking the basic concept of the rule of law and not oppressing citizens.” He was holding a poster demanding the release of pro-Palestinian student protester Mahmoud Khalil.

Douglas said that some individuals are being deliberately targeted to provoke foreign opposition and weaken long-standing legal protections. ‘We are in great danger’ Another protester from New York, Kathy Valley (73 years), who is the daughter of Holocaust survivors, said, “We are in great danger.” She said, “The stories that my parents told about the rise of Hitler are matching today with Trump’s era. The only difference is that Trump is more stupid than Hitler or other fascist leaders. He is just being used and there is a rift in his own team.” Protest against cuts in public health funding

Daniela Butler, 26, a PhD student in immunology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, expressed concern over the Trump administration’s cuts to science and public health funding. “When science is ignored, people die,” she said. She held a map of Texas showing the locations of recent measles epidemics.

    ‘We have lost so much’
A small group also protested in Galveston, Texas. 63-year-old writer Patsy Oliver said, “This is my fourth protest. Usually I would wait for the next election, but now we have lost so much, so we can’t stay silent anymore.”

Hundreds of people wrote “IMPEACH + REMOVE” on the sand on a San Francisco beach. Some protesters also waved the American flag upside down, which is considered a traditional symbol of crisis.

Demonstrations organized by a group called ‘50501’
A group called ‘50501’, which stands for 50 demonstrations in 50 states and one movement, said that about 400 demonstrations were planned across the country. Although the organizers had expected participation of lakhs, the crowd was less this time compared to the ‘Hands Off’ demonstrations held on April 5.
