NDA united on Wakf Bill, all parties have geared up, bill will be presented in Lok Sabha today

  • April 02, 2025

New Delhi. After a few hours from now, the time is going to change in the country’s politics inside the Parliament, when the eight-hour debate will begin. It will be decided whether the time of the country’s largest and most powerful Muslim organization Wakf Board is now a thing of the past or not. Tomorrow at 12 noon in the Lok Sabha, the government is bringing the Wakf Amendment Bill. Voting will also take place tomorrow and it is believed that the Modi government can win tomorrow on the most important bill of its third term. So far, Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Deve Gowda, Chirag Paswan, Manjhi, Jayant Chaudhary’s party have given the green signal to support the bill. Both the MPs of the ally party JDS in Karnataka will also support the Wakf Amendment Bill tomorrow.

Even though BJP is 32 seats away from majority on its own in the third term, but in a few hours the government will show its power on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Parliament. Even though BJP has lost 63 seats in the Lok Sabha compared to the last time, but the government is going to tell that we do not shy away from taking big decisions due to the loss of seats. Even though in the third term Modi government is dependent on the support of 53 MPs of 14 alliance parties, but in a few hours the government is going to tell that unanimity is bigger than majority. In such a situation, today we have to understand this question that is the time of politics in the name of secularism in the country going to change with the Waqf Bill?

Is the politics of Muslim vote going to change?
‘Politics of secularism’ is a word that was coined by the opposition against BJP in the politics of the 90s. Where the opposition used to unite by calling BJP communal and claiming secularism and then BJP, even while being in power, hesitated to take big decisions in front of the politics of the opposition under the umbrella of secularism. But in the 21st century, Modi style politics is different. Where the intentions of the opponents who united against BJP on the scale of secularism may remain hanging in the air on the issue of Wakf Amendment Bill on Wednesday because despite being a coalition government, the Modi government seems to have an upper hand with the support of Nitish-Naidu, Chirag, Manjhi.

The Wakf Bill through which the government is bringing changes is not only going to change the Wakf Board, but is also changing the politics of Muslim votes in the country and the politics done in the name of secularism. Because despite all the taunts and taunts of the opposition, neither Nitish, nor Chandrababu Naidu, nor Chirag Paswan, nor Jayant Chaudhary have taken a stand against the bill. If the Waqf Amendment Bill is passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, it will be a setback for Rahul Gandhi’s politics.

    Opposition faces disappointment
A few months ago, when BJP was far from getting majority in the Lok Sabha on its own, Rahul Gandhi was constantly taunting and saying that we have weakened the confidence of the Prime Minister. We have completely blown Narendra Modi psychologically. The entire confidence of the Prime Minister has disappeared. Wherever Rahul Gandhi went after the Lok Sabha elections, he kept claiming in every rally that he has broken the confidence of Prime Minister Modi. But now in less than a year, on one hand, the Modi government has won elections in Haryana, Maharashtra and even Delhi, and on the other hand, in its third term, it has also made preparations to bring a big bill related to Waqf Amendment in the Lok Sabha and get it passed. The purpose is clear, whether it is the field of elections or passing the bill in Parliament, PM Modi’s politics is not going to bow down.

Now there is no ifs and buts visible. Nitish Kumar’s party has openly said that we will support the Waqf Amendment Bill tomorrow. In a conversation with Aaj Tak, JDU’s Chief Whip Dileshwar Kamat said that his MPs will strongly vote in support of the government in Parliament. Whips have been issued to all the party MPs for this.

Waqf Amendment Bill, Muslim Reservation and Uniform Civil Code, these are the issues that have been discussed since last year whether it will be difficult for BJP to reach a consensus with its allies on these. If we take the example of the bill to be presented in the Lok Sabha tomorrow, the politics of the entire opposition, from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, was focused on Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu opposing the bill. But it seems that the Modi government will not let the opponents’ bets work. That is why the conditions that Nitish Kumar suggested regarding the bill were included in the bill. The result is that according to sources, Nitish Kumar’s party has decided to support the bill.

The opposition’s game will not be made by the number game. Seeing Nitish Kumar’s history of changing his stance, this time the opposition must have thought that who knows, Sushasan Babu who does Iftar parties will change his stance again, that is why even the leaders of Owaisi’s party were engaged till the end in awakening Nitish Kumar against BJP in the name of Muslim votes. The opposition was somehow trying to stop the Waqf Bill by relying on Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu because the opposition has no say in the number game.

NDA has 293 MPs in the Lok Sabha. India Alliance has 235 MPs, if we add others to this, then this number goes up to 249 only. Whereas the majority number is 272. The opposition felt that if TDP with 16 MPs and JDU with 12 MPs oppose the Waqf Bill, then the game can change because then the number of NDA will come down to 265 and the number opposing the bill will reach 277.

All India Muslim Personal Law Board held protests at three places
With this hope, All India Muslim Personal Law Board held protests at three places in the country. These protests took place at three places, Delhi, Bihar’s capital Patna and Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada. From this you can understand how much pressure was exerted by opposition parties and Muslim Personal Law Board to bring Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu against the bill. Even in the protest of Muslim Personal Law Board, posters were put up with Nitish and Naidu’s names written on them, so that they oppose the bill.

Amidst these pressures, claiming Muslim interests and votes, once it felt as if Nitish Kumar could also turn his back on the Waqf Bill. When the Chief Minister suddenly became active in Patna and reached the state office to meet the leaders and workers. By then some such statements came, which made it seem as if Nitish Kumar might play with the suspense. The first statement came from Ghulam Gaus, JDU MLC, who said that withdrawing the Waqf Bill is in the national interest. After this, the second statement surprised everyone. JDU spokesperson Abhishek Jha said that Nitish Kumar does not compromise with communal forces.

After these two statements, it seemed that whether the suspense of Nitish Kumar’s party on the Waqf Bill to be presented in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday can really take any turn in politics. But for now, till a few hours before the Waqf Bill is presented, the truth of politics is that the opposition does not see any possibility of firing the gun of opposition on Nitish Kumar’s shoulder because the government has accepted every suggestion of JDU with conditions on the Waqf Amendment Bill.

The government accepted all the demands of Nitish
Nitish Kumar wanted that land is a state matter, the state government should have jurisdiction over Waqf land. This has been accepted in the Waqf Bill. Nitish Kumar wanted that the new law should not be implemented from an old date, old mosques, dargahs or other Muslim religious places should not be tampered with, this thing has also been accepted in the bill. Also, the state government can appoint an officer above the rank of collector to decide whether the property is Waqf or not. This demand has also been accepted. That is, whether it is the Mufti or the Maulana or the tactics of the opposition, at present, no one is able to shake or disturb the hand of support of Modi that Nitish Kumar held on to regarding the Wakf Amendment Bill.
