New Delhi: NASA’s Solar Probe Parker has created a new history. At exactly 5:10 pm, this spacecraft of the American Space Agency passed closest to the sun. This is the first spacecraft made by humans that has reached so close to the sun. According to NASA, the distance of the spacecraft from the sun was only 61 lakh km. Earlier, the spacecraft that had gone closest to the sun had passed from a distance of about 4.3 crore kilometers. Parker reached almost 7 times closer than that.
The distance of the sun from the earth is about 15 crore kilometers, till now all the sun missions launched in the world have been exploring its mystery from crores of kilometers away from the sun. In the history of solar missions, the spacecraft that went closest to the star was NASA’s Helios-2, which passed about 4.3 crore kilometers from the Sun in 1976.
When NASA’s spacecraft reached closest to the Sun on Tuesday, its speed was 6 lakh 92 thousand 17 kilometers per hour, which is more than the speed of 190 km per second. NASA claims that its speed is the highest compared to any human object created till date. Which is also a new record. According to NASA, no spacecraft has passed so close to any star and at such a speed till now.
According to NASA, this spacecraft can withstand temperatures up to 1371 degrees Celsius, when it passed near the Sun, its temperature was around 982 degrees Celsius i.e. around 1800 Fahrenheit. This mission will remain in the Sun’s atmosphere for the next three days. This area of the Sun is called perihelion. So far this spacecraft has orbited the sun 21 times, but this is the first time it has reached so close.
The sun is currently in its most active state, which is called Solar Maximum. In such a situation, it is believed that this spacecraft can collect many important information about the sun, although this spacecraft will not be able to send this information to NASA immediately, because at present it is out of contact with NASA and as soon as it comes out of the sun’s atmosphere, it will once again establish contact with NASA on December 27, after which it will send information.
NASA’s Solar Probe Parker will go near the sun again next year. According to NASA, next year this spacecraft will reach close to the sun about 2 times. However, NASA has not given information about how far it will be from the sun. According to a report, there is still enough fuel left in the spacecraft that it can run for a year.
This Solar Probe Mission of NASA was launched 6 years ago in 2018, which is the fastest mission till now. It reached the Sun’s orbit on November 5, 85 days after its launch. In this 7-year long mission, the spacecraft had to orbit the Sun a total of 24 times. So far, it has orbited the Sun 21 times. Today, it has completed its 22nd orbit. Next year, it will again orbit the Sun twice.
