Sheopur. Villagers attacked 5 cheetahs that came out of Kuno National Park with sticks and stones. A video of this incident has also surfaced. The Forest Department Rescue team present on the spot kept telling the villagers to stay away from the cheetahs, but the villagers did not listen. The incident is said to have happened on Monday. When the cheetahs came out, the cheetah friend of the area and his team made the people around aware. He told that cheetahs do not attack people. He appealed to the people to take care of the safety of the cheetahs.

It is said that the female cheetah Jwala and her 4 cubs, who were left in the open forest a month ago, came out of the park boundary for the first time on Saturday evening. The cheetahs returned to the Kuno forest again on Sunday afternoon. On Sunday night, these leopards were seen near village Shyampur in Veerpur tehsil. The leopards were about 1 km away from the under-construction Sheopur-Gwalior broad gauge rail track.

On Monday morning, these five leopards reached the Kuno river passing near the Kuno siphon. All three sat under the under-construction railway bridge for a long time. During this time, a crowd of passersby passing through the Kuno siphon gathered to see the leopards. The female leopard and the cubs were crossing the road one by one, when they pounced on the cow.

To drive away the female leopard and the cubs, the villagers ran with sticks and started throwing stones. Leopard Jwala held the cow’s neck for a long time. As soon as she was hit by the stone, she left the cow and ran away with the cubs. After the incident, at around 10 o’clock, the cheetah team left the Kuno bridge area and reached the Tiliderra area of Veerpur.

Jwala and her cubs were released in the forest of Khajuri area on February 21. They stayed within the park boundary for a month. When the cheetahs came out, the cheetah friend of the area and his team made the people around aware. They told that cheetahs do not attack people. They appealed to the people not to chase the cheetahs away and to take care of their safety.
