Bhopal. Former registrar of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) Prof. Rakesh Singh Rajput (RS Rajput) was absconding for six months in the FD scam of Rs 19 crore (19.48 crore). There was news of him fleeing abroad, but he surrendered in Bhopal District Court on Thursday afternoon. On the information of the court, the police arrived and completed the formalities of arrest. After this, the court has handed over RS Rajput to police remand till September 10 for interrogation.
It is known that three days ago, in the case of corruption of crores of rupees in RGPV, ED had searched more than half a dozen places including the residence of former Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunil Kumar and former Registrar RS Rajput. RS Rajput had knocked the door of the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail, but the country’s top court also refused to grant anticipatory bail and directed him to appear in court.
These were made accused in the fraud
The students had protested against corruption in RGPV, after which the university’s registrar complained to Gandhinagar police on March 3 about the scam of Rs 19.48 crore. Only after this, the Higher Education Department removed Prof. RS Rajput and the then Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunil Kumar resigned after an FIR was lodged. In this case, the police had registered a case of embezzlement by preparing forged documents against RS Rajput, the then registrar, Rishikesh Verma, the finance controller, Professor Sunil Kumar, the Vice Chancellor on leave, beneficiary Mayank Kumar and Dalit Sangh Sohagpur and others.
