Bhopal. A shocking incident of attack on Jain monks has come to light in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh. A minor has been detained for attacking 3 Jain monks with sticks and sharp weapons on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday for not giving money in Singoli town. At the same time, five people have been arrested. At the same time, the state government has taken a very strict stand on this incident. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav assured strict legal action against the accused and said that such incidents will not be tolerated.
Inspector-in-charge of Singoli police station Bhura Lal Bhabhar said that Jain Muni Shailesh Muni ji, Balabhadra Muni ji and Munindra Muni ji had stopped to rest at Hanuman temple. Meanwhile, the accused arrived there on three motorcycles and after consuming alcohol, they demanded money from the Jain monks. The three Jain monks suffered head and back injuries in the attack by the accused.
The injured Jain monks were rushed to a nearby hospital, but they refused to undergo treatment citing religious customs. According to them, doing so after sunset is prohibited. They were taken to a medical facility run by the Jain community after sunrise on Monday, the official said.
The accused Ganpat Nayak, Gopal Bhoi, Kanhaiya Lal, Raju Bhoi, Babu Sharma and the minor are residents of Chittorgarh. Chittorgarh is near Neemuch. Neemuch SP Ankit Jaiswal said that the minor has been detained. The rest of the accused have been arrested. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, the Jain community called for a bandh in Singoli town on Monday in protest against the attack. Shops remained closed on the call for the bandh. On this incident, MP CM Mohan Yadav said that some people misbehaved with Jain monks after drinking alcohol. All the accused have been arrested. Strictest legal action will be taken against the accused. The Chief Minister said that the state government will not tolerate any such incident.
