Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he is ready to compromise on Ukraine in possible talks with Donald Trump to end the war. It is worth noting that Putin has said that he has no conditions to start talks with Ukrainian officials.
Trump has vowed to end the Russia-Ukraine war soon, but he has not yet told how he will end this conflict. This important statement of Putin came about 34 months after the Ukraine war during his annual question-answer program in which he was answering questions from the media and the general public on state television.
Putin is ready for talks
Putin denied that Russia is in a weak position at this time. Responding to a question from a reporter of an American news channel, Putin said that he is ready to meet Trump. However, he also said that he has not spoken with Trump for years.
During this, Putin said, ‘We have always said that we are ready for negotiations and compromise. Russia is currently in a stronger position than in 2022, when action was started on Ukraine. The Russian army is moving forward to achieve its primary goals in Ukraine, despite this it is ready for negotiations and compromise. Putin admitted that the fighting in Ukraine is complicated.
Ukraine and Western countries have rejected a proposal
Putin further said, “I think that soon, Ukrainian citizens who want to fight will run away. There will be no one left who wants to fight. We are ready, but the other side should also be ready for both negotiations and compromise.”
Putin had also said some time ago that Russia is ready to negotiate for a peaceful solution to the conflict but he reiterated his demand that Ukraine should give up its desire to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). However, Ukraine and Western countries rejected these demands.
Trump had said this
Let us tell you that some time ago, the future President of America, Donald Trump (will be sworn in on January 20, 2025) had demanded an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. In a post on his personal social media platform ‘Truth Social’, he referred to the latest situation in Syria and said that Assad has lost power, many deaths have occurred, there should be an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 and since then both the countries are engaged in war.
Trump wrote in his post, ‘Assad is gone. He fled his country. His patron, Russia led by Vladimir Putin, was no longer interested in protecting him. There was no reason for Russia to interfere in the Syrian civil war. They lost interest in Syria because of Ukraine, where about 600000 Russian soldiers are lying wounded or dead. The Ukraine war should never have started, and now it can go on forever.’
