Mahatma Gandhi’s great-granddaughter Nilamben Parikh dies at the age of 93

Gandhinagar. Mahatma Gandhi’s great-granddaughter Nilamben Parikh died today at the age of 93. She breathed her last in Navsari. Nilamben was the granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi’s son Haridas Gandhi. She was living at the house of her son Dr. Sameer Parikh in Alka Society of Navsari district.

Last rites will be performed at Veerwal crematorium
Her last rites will leave from her residence tomorrow at 8 am and last rites will be performed at Veerwal crematorium. Nilamben Parikh was a true Gandhian. She spent her entire life in Vyara and was always dedicated to women’s welfare and human service.

On the 60th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, on 30 January 2008, Neelamben Parikh respectfully immersed the last remaining ashes of Bapu. This immersion took place in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai. On this occasion, Gandhiji’s followers and family members also paid tribute to him.
