New Delhi. The controversy over the grave of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Khuldabad of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is increasing. Amid the call of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders to remove the grave, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad have also intensified their demands. Both the organizations have threatened that if the government fails to take action in this matter, they will do kar seva here too.
The leaders of both the organizations said that they will jointly submit a memorandum to the state government on March 17, demanding the removal of the grave through legal means. If the government fails to do so, then statewide kar seva and protests will be done. He said that this grave is a symbol of atrocities and oppression done on Hindus for centuries during the rule of Aurangzeb and it should be demolished.
Speaking to the media in Pune, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader said that Aurangzeb’s history is full of his cruelty. He imprisoned his father, killed his brothers and destroyed Hindu temples. Having his tomb here is only glorifying his atrocities. The Maharashtra government should remove it with immediate effect. If the government fails to do so, we will do Kar Seva on it, as we did during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
The demand to remove the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb was made last week by minister in the government Nitesh Rane and former MP Navneet Rana. After the demand of the leaders, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also supported this demand. However, he also stressed that any action should be taken under the law.
Opposition leaders opposed this demand being raised by BJP leaders. Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danve said that Aurangzeb’s grave being here is proof that he came here and was defeated and killed here. We should be able to tell the coming generations that this is the land where the emperor of Hindustan was defeated and buried.
