New Delhi: Bajrang Punia, the country’s leading wrestler and recently appointed working chairman of Kisan Congress, has received death threats from a foreign number. After joining Congress, he has received a threatening message on WhatsApp, which reads, “Bajrang leave Congress or else it will not be good for you and your family. This is our last message. Before the elections, we will show you what we are. Complain wherever you want, this is our first and last warning.”
After this threat, Bajrang has lodged a complaint at Sonipat Bahalgarh police station. The police station has taken the matter seriously and started investigation. Being a national player and famous among the public, this threat has created concern and outrage among the people. Police say that they are taking this matter seriously and all necessary steps are being taken to identify the person threatening. Police have made special arrangements to ensure the safety of Bajrang and his family.
This is not the first time that a famous person of a country has received such a threat, but people say that this incident raises the question that how can someone’s life be in danger due to his views and political decisions. Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, Olympian wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia joined the Congress on Friday. Both the wrestlers met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders at his residence at 10 Rajaji Marg. On September 4, he also met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and then decided to join the party.
