Kolkata rape case will be heard in Supreme Court on August 20

Kolkata: The Supreme Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the murder and rape of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. On Tuesday, August 20, a bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra will hear the case.

On August 9, a 31-year-old resident doctor was found dead in the hospital. Since the murder, doctors are on strike across the country demanding justice. At present, the case is being investigated by the CBI. The CBI is continuously investigating this case. Former Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh has been summoned by the CBI for the third consecutive day and he is being questioned.

August 9, at around 9 am, the body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital. After this, the police of Tala police station came to the spot at around 10:00 am. There were many injury marks on the body of the dead doctor. Although initially the hospital officials had declared the death of the trainee doctor as suicide, later it was revealed that the trainee doctor was raped and then murdered.

Upon investigation by Kolkata Police, one accused Sanjay Rai was identified through the CCTV footage of the hospital and broken headphones. The police arrested him. He accepted the charges during police interrogation.

Later this case reached the Calcutta High Court. The Calcutta High Court ordered the CBI to investigate the case. After the order of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI is investigating this case. The CBI has so far questioned about 20 people in this case. The CBI is questioning the college principal Sandeep Ghosh for the third consecutive day.

The CBI team is investigating and conducting 3D laser mapping in and outside the emergency ward of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Digital mapping is being done in the hospital with the help of high accuracy 3D laser scanner.
