Belagavi (Karnataka). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah got angry on Monday when some people created a ruckus during his speech. These people were allegedly workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). During this, Siddaramaiah angrily raised his hand to slap a police officer on the stage.
According to Congress and official sources, the protesting people showed black flags amid a large crowd and raised some slogans. Siddaramaiah got angry at this and called the police officer on his stage and said, come here..who is the SP? What are you doing? After this, the Chief Minister angrily raised his hand towards the police officer, but the police officer immediately retreated. Then Siddaramaiah orders him to remove those people who were creating trouble for him.
Siddaramaiah loses his temper. However, Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala and law and parliamentary affairs minister H.K. Patil try to pacify him. He is then seen questioning minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, who is from Belagavi.
The chief minister was addressing a ‘Save Constitution and Anti-Inflation Rally’ in which several Congress leaders and his cabinet ministers were present. Siddaramaiah then continued his speech saying, “BJP and RSS try to spoil peace everywhere like this. They try to incite violence in society. They try to divide society. We are not going to be afraid of such attempts by the BJP. We have the strength to face them publicly. I want to make this clear.” He further said, “If we (Congress) ask our workers to deal with the BJP and RSS, they will ensure that the BJP and RSS are not able to do anything. I condemn the BJP, which is participating in such protests.” Are you (BJP) not ashamed? Siddaramaiah also said that the Congress is not afraid of such attempts. “Our anti-inflation agitation against the central government is not going to stop,” he said.
Later, speaking to reporters, state Congress president and deputy chief minister D.K. Shivakumar warned the BJP that if the BJP’s attitude continues like this, they will not allow the party to hold any meeting or programme in the state. “Today, the BJP sent four of its workers. I don’t know if they were corporators or block presidents. They came with our cards. They showed black flags and shouted slogans and tried to create obstruction. I want to tell all BJP and opposition party leaders, if this is your attitude, we will not allow any of your meetings or programmes in the state. This is the oath of the Congress party,” he said.
Deputy chief minister Shivakumar warns BJP
Shivakumar further said, “I want to warn the BJP. If you improve it, it is fine.” If this attitude continues, the people of the state and God have given me the strength that we will respond with a bigger action than what you have done. This is a warning. Reform your party and workers, otherwise we will not allow your programs to be held anywhere. We are ready to face it.
