New Delhi: The issues in the Lok Sabha elections in India and the US Presidential elections were almost the same. The election campaign was also happening in almost the same way. In the Lok Sabha elections in India, there was a contest between the NDA alliance and the India alliance. In America, as usual, there was a contest between the Republicans and the Democrats. Donald Trump was leading the Republicans while Kamala Harris was leading the charge from the Democrats’ side. In the same way, Rahul Gandhi was leading the India alliance while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was leading the NDA side.
Although the India alliance could not oust the NDA alliance from power in the Lok Sabha elections in India, it did not let it remain as strong as before either. The central government has now become weak. Without support, the NDA government cannot run even for a day now. How did all this happen? Undoubtedly, the strategy of the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi worked behind this, due to which the India alliance proved successful in cornering the BJP. Kamala Harris also had to do the same work in America, but she could not raise those issues as effectively as she did in India.
Elections in America were being held on the lines of India
The election issues in America were the same as in India. If rising inflation was an election issue in India, it was a big issue in America too. It is becoming difficult for a common American to meet his daily needs, along with the talk of increasing atrocities on Dalits in India, it was also said that if BJP comes to power, the constitution will be changed, the opposition in India alleged that if Narendra Modi comes to power once again, democracy will end, the same thing was being said about Donald Trump in America. Issues like crimes against women, security of minorities etc. were important not only in India but also in America.
In India, Rahul Gandhi was successful in alleging that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for his close friends capitalist Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani. Kamala Harris was also accusing Donald Trump that if Trump forms the government, only the capitalists, corporates and big people will be taken care of in America.
More or less, the situation was the same in India during the Lok Sabha elections. But the way Rahul Gandhi attacked these issues, his party and the parties of the India alliance benefited from it. But since Kamala Harris herself was in power and was holding a very important post of Vice President, it does not suit her to accuse. American society would have started asking Kamala Harris questions that why no action was taken when you were in power for the last 4 years.
Kamala Harris could not understand Rahul Gandhi’s method
Rahul Gandhi kept accusing the Modi government. For this, he was not thinking that these questions would be raised on his party and him as well. Like Rahul Gandhi said that caste census was made an issue without thinking that the Congress state government itself is not getting the caste census done. He raised the issue of Dalit and backward officials in budget making and other decisions without thinking about what is happening in Congress governments or when there were Congress governments in the country, were the officials of these sections included in such decisions or not? Rahul Gandhi started saying this at every crossroad that injustice is being done to Dalits and backward classes. The public understood this. Kamala Harris may have been in the government but she should have also kept raising baseless facts in the same way.
Rahul had proved successful in telling a section of India that the government is working for the capitalists.
Rahul Gandhi has been continuously taking the names of Ambani and Adani as PM Modi’s friends for many years. He repeatedly says that the Modi government is working for industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani. Rahul never thought that Congress governments also welcome these industrialists. The general public was impressed by repeatedly taking the name of Adani. People felt that our leader has the courage to confront the capitalists. On the contrary, Kamala Harris talked about the merging of corporate and Trump interests but could not openly target people like Elon Musk.
The issue of intruders was also there in India
Donald Trump has received tremendous support in America regarding illegal intruders and people coming from outside. But the opposite happened in India. All illegal intruders voted for the parties of the India Alliance. Along with this, the votes of the Muslim minorities also went against the Modi government. Whereas in America, Kamala Harris could have also taken advantage of this. She could have monopolized the votes of communities like Muslims, Blacks and Indians (natives of America) etc. but could not do so.
