‘It is not easy to forget him, the world is missing him’, PM Modi remembers Ratan Tata

November 09, 2024

New Delhi: Almost a month has passed since the death of the country’s leading industrialist Ratan Tata. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written an article remembering him. He wrote that the pain of Ratan Tata ji leaving us is still in our minds. It is not easy to forget this pain. He said in his article that in the form of Ratan Tata, the country has lost a great son… a priceless gem has been lost.

Even today, from cities, towns to villages, people are feeling his absence deeply. Be it an industrialist, an emerging entrepreneur or a professional, everyone is saddened by his death. People associated with environmental protection…people associated with social service are also equally saddened by his death and this grief is being felt not only by India but the world.

‘There is no goal that cannot be achieved’
In his article, the Prime Minister said that Ratan Tata was an inspiration for the youth. His life, his personality reminds us that there is no dream that cannot be fulfilled, there is no goal that cannot be achieved. Ratan Tata ji has taught everyone that success can be achieved even by helping others, with a humble nature.

Tata Group became a symbol of honesty
Ratan Tata ji was a symbol of the best traditions of Indian entrepreneurship. He was also a steadfast representative of values like reliability, excellence and best service. Under his leadership, the Tata Group reached new heights, becoming a symbol of respect, honesty and reliability around the world. Despite this, he accepted his achievements with complete humility and ease.

Ratan Tata lived for the dreams of others
The PM further wrote in his article that Ratan Tata ji openly supported the dreams of others, helping others to fulfill their dreams was one of the most brilliant qualities of Ratan Tata. In recent times, he has been known to guide India’s startup ecosystem and invest in enterprises that have future potential. He understood the hopes and aspirations of young entrepreneurs, as well as recognized their potential to shape India’s future.

Encouragement to the young generation
By supporting the efforts of India’s youth, he encouraged the new generation of new dreamers to take risks and go beyond limits. His move has helped a lot in developing the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in India. We will definitely see its positive impact on India in the coming decades.

Emphasis on best quality products
PM Modi further writes that Ratan Tata ji always emphasized on best quality products… best quality service and showed the way to Indian enterprises to set global benchmarks. Today, when India is moving towards the goal of development by 2047, we can wave our flag in the world only by setting global benchmarks. I hope his vision will inspire future generations of our country and India will strengthen its identity for world class quality.

Compassion towards animals
Ratan Tata’s greatness was not limited to the boardroom or helping colleagues. He had compassion for all living beings. His deep love for animals was well known and he encouraged every effort focused on animal welfare. He often shared pictures of his dogs, which were an integral part of his life. I remember when people were thronging to bid Ratan Tata a final farewell… his dog ‘Goa’ also arrived there with teary eyes. Ratan Tata’s life is a reminder that leadership is not measured only by achievements, but also by the ability to care for the most vulnerable.

When we worked together in Gujarat
Narendra Modi said that personally, I had the good fortune of knowing him very closely in the last few decades. We worked together in Gujarat. Large-scale investments were made there. These included many projects about which he was very passionate. The PM said that when he came to the Centre, these close conversations continued and he remained a committed partner in our nation-building efforts. Ratan Tata’s enthusiasm towards the Swachh Bharat Mission particularly touched my heart. I still remember his video message for the tenth anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission in early October. This video message has been one of his last public appearances in a way.

The fight against cancer was another goal that was close to his heart. I remember the program in Assam two years ago, where we jointly inaugurated various cancer hospitals in the state. In his address on that occasion, he had clearly said that he wanted to dedicate the last years of his life to the health sector. His efforts to make healthcare and cancer care accessible and affordable are proof of his deep empathy towards people suffering from diseases. I also remember Ratan Tata ji as a learned person – he would often write to me on various issues, whether it was matters related to governance, appreciation of some work or sending a congratulatory message after victory in elections.

‘I missed Ratan Tata ji a lot’
Just a few weeks ago, I was in Vadodara with the President of the Spanish Government Pedro Sanchez and we jointly inaugurated an aircraft factory. In this factory, C-295 aircraft will be manufactured in India. It was Ratan Tata who started work on it. I missed Ratan Tata a lot at that time.

Generations will always be grateful: PM Modi
PM Narendra Modi wrote that today when we are remembering him, we also have to remember the society that he had envisioned. Where business serves as a force for good, where the potential of each individual is valued, and where progress is measured by the well-being and happiness of all. Ratan Tata lives on in the lives and dreams he supported and made come true. Generations to come will be forever grateful to him for making India a better, kinder and more hopeful land.
