But Karun was bowled on the next ball of that over by Mitchell Santner.

Karun Nair, who came in as an ‘impact sub’, scored 89 runs in 42 balls with the help of 12 fours and 5 sixes. After Karun was out, Delhi Capitals lost momentum. Delhi then lost the wickets of captain Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul cheaply. Even after Rahul’s dismissal, Delhi remained in the game because Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraaj Nigam were present at the crease.

Vipraaj Nigam hit a six and a four in the 18th over, but in the same over, Vipraaj was stumped on a wide ball by Mitchell Santner. When Vipraaj was out, Mumbai’s score was 180 runs for 7 wickets and now the responsibility of winning the match was completely on Ashutosh Sharma.

Substitute fielder Raj Bawa’s throw came at the striker’s end and Rickelton blew away the bails. Then Delhi lost the match with Mohit Sharma getting run out on the last ball of the over.
