IndiGo has confirmed the incident and said that the Mumbai-Chennai flight faced adverse weather conditions including rain and strong winds, so it had to go for a go-around. Go-arounds are usually done when a safe landing is not possible.
IndiGo has said on the incident, “Due to adverse weather conditions including rain and strong winds, the cockpit crew of flight 6E 683 operating between Mumbai and Chennai performed a go-around on November 30, 2024 as per established safety protocols.” The airline clarified that pilots are trained for such exercises.
The statement said, “This is a safe exercise and our pilots are given extensive training to handle such situations in an extremely professional manner. When a safe landing is not possible, a go-around is done.”
