New Delhi: The Government of India on Saturday rejected the allegations of the Canadian Minister against the Union Home Minister, calling them ‘absurd and baseless’. On Friday, the representative of the Canadian High Commission was summoned and a note was handed over to the officer opposing the allegations. The government has expressed displeasure over this.
In a press conference today, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that we summoned the representative of the Canadian High Commission yesterday. The note that was handed over stated that the Government of India strongly opposes the absurd and baseless references made by Deputy Minister David Morrison to the Union Home Minister of India before the committee.
Two senior officials of the Justin Trudeau-led government have recently confessed to leaking intelligence and sensitive information against India to the Washington Post, while Canadian police publicly alleged that their investigation into the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar revealed links between Indian government agents and ‘assassinations and violent acts’ in Canada.
Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison told a parliamentary panel on Tuesday that a top-ranking official of the PM Modi-led government was behind the conspiracy to attack Sikh separatists in Canada. The government rejected the allegations, saying the move was aimed at defaming India and ‘influencing other countries’.
