  • April 23, 2025

New Delhi. While the rapid invention of artificial intelligence is providing many facilities, concerns related to employment are also troubling people. Now the Supreme Court has also joined this concern. During the hearing of a case on Tuesday, the court said that in future the work of the driver will be done by AI. This will have dangerous consequences and people can become unemployed on a large scale. The bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice NK Singh said this while hearing a PIL, in which it was demanded that the government should be asked to make a policy to encourage the purchase and use of electric vehicles. Meanwhile, the court said that the employment of drivers will also be affected due to artificial intelligence.

The court said, ‘Our concern is that these drivers should not lose their jobs due to artificial intelligence. Driver’s job is also a big means of employment in India.’ Justice Suryakant jokingly said that AI is giving tough competition to lawyers as well. Tools have come up, with which you can take any legal advice. He said that Artificial Intelligence is a rapidly growing technology. A good module comes up in just a few months. At present, we are seeing that there are AI based advocate tools. These are being used a lot in America. We are also concerned about lawyers. Let us tell you that in India too, big industrialists have been expressing concern about this. There are many businesses including content writing, consultancy, which are feared to be adversely affected due to AI.

Prashant Bhushan was arguing for the PIL filed regarding the policy of purchasing electric cars. He said that electric vehicles will have to be promoted rapidly in India. This is because 14 of the 15 most polluted cities in the world are in India. He said that my demand is that the government itself should implement such a policy. He said that if the government does not move forward, then how will other departments come forward. He said that the government should provide basic infrastructure. Prashant Bhushan said that charging centers for electric vehicles are available at a distance of 400 kilometers. Attorney General R. Venkataramani, while presenting the government’s side, said that we should be given some time. Then we will tell what the government’s policy is regarding this. The court has now fixed May 14 as the date for hearing this case.
