In Mhow army officers befriended Girls at a cafe, case of Jam Gate

• Accused confessed to robbery but denied rape

Indore/Mhow, (Shubhankar Shrivas) In the case of robbery and gang rape of army officer and his female friends near tourist place Jam Gate, police took 2 out of 6 accused in custody yesterday and got them to confess to robbery, but the accused men are not confessing to gang rape till now. At the same time, search for the remaining absconding accused is also being done at a fast pace. All the accused men are said to be from rural areas around Manpur.

Since the above case is related to army officers, police is avoiding saying anything. According to Badgonda police, till this morning, both the victim girls did not record their official statements. If we talk about how the two girls developed friendship with the army officers, then the facts that have come to light in this case are that since about two months ago, both the girls used to reach Chai Sutta Bar near Girls School Square in Mhow after 10 pm to drink tea. Some other friends of these two girls also used to stay with them. Different army officers used to come to meet all these girls every day. Both the girls were seen with different army officers at an interval of a few days. According to sources, both the girls became friends with the army officers from this Chai Sutta Bar itself. Both the girls had taken admission in college after passing 12th class from the school of Mhow itself. Both are currently studying in the college of Mhow itself.

The accused were drinking alcohol in a restricted area… They reached after hearing the girl’s laughter
The place where the incident took place inside the army firing range in Jam Gate is a restricted area and the accused were sitting there and drinking alcohol. When they saw the car coming, they thought that some young men have come to enjoy the night weather, but as soon as the girls got out of the car, the accused heard their loud laughter and came and committed the crime. The age of all the accused youths is being told to be between 22 to 30 years. There is also a suspicion that the accused youths must have come here at night earlier also and committed such an incident.
