New Delhi. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, famous for his outspoken style, said on Saturday that he does not bring caste and religion in public communication. He said that he does this because he believes that people consider service to the society above everything else. Referring to his election campaign, Gadkari said, “Jo karega jaat ki baat, usko maaraunga laat.” Gadkari also said that he continued this idea regardless of losing the election or losing the ministerial post.
Gadkari was speaking at the convocation of Nanmuda Institute. Here he said, “We never discriminate on these things (caste/religion). I am in politics and a lot is said here. But I decided that I will work in my own way and will not think about who will vote for me.” He further said, “My friends said you should not have said this, but I decided to follow this principle in life. Even if I lose the election or do not get a ministerial post, it will not matter to me.” Gadkari also recalled that when he was an MLC, he gave permission to Anjuman-e-Islam Sansthan (Nagpur) Engineering College. He felt that they needed it more. He said, “If more engineers, IPS and IAS officers come out from the Muslim community, then everyone will develop. We have the example of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.” Gadkari said, “Today thousands of students have become engineers under the banner of Anjuman-e-Islam. If they did not get the opportunity to study, nothing would have happened. This is the power of education. It can change lives and communities.”
