Bhopal: India has announced the cancellation of all visas issued to Pakistani citizens from April 27, as tensions between the two countries have increased over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. 26 people were killed in this attack.There are 228 Pakistani citizens living in Madhya Pradesh will have to leave India before the deadline of 27 April set by the Center. An official gave this information on Saturday.
A senior state government official said, “According to the data we have, there are 228 Pakistani citizens in Madhya Pradesh. Our job is to inform them (the Center) about such people.” He said that such people will have to go back to their country as per the instructions of the Center. He said that the data about the Pakistani citizens who have left is expected to come by evening. The central government has directed to ensure that no Pakistani citizen remains in the country after the stipulated deadline.
According to sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the Chief Ministers of all states to ensure that no Pakistani citizen remains in India after April 27. He said that the Chief Ministers have been asked to identify Pakistani citizens living in their respective areas and ensure their deportation. This decision to cancel visas will not apply to long-term visas already issued to Hindu Pakistani citizens, which ‘will remain valid’.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said that all existing valid visas issued to Pakistani citizens by India have been canceled from April 27, while medical visas issued to Pakistani citizens will remain valid only till April 29. The MEA has said that all Pakistani citizens currently present in India should leave the country before their visas expire.
