Government approves biggest defense deal, Army will get 156 Prachand helicopters

New Delhi: India has approved the biggest defense deal ever to buy 156 Made in India LCH Prachand helicopters. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs held today. The Ministry of Defense has signed contracts worth more than Rs 2.09 lakh crore this financial year. Giving information, the defense official said that this will be the biggest order ever for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The helicopters will be manufactured at their plants in Bengaluru and Tumkur, Karnataka.

‘Prachand’ is capable of deployment at high altitude
Prachand is the only attack helicopter in the world, which can fly even at an altitude of 16,400 feet (5,000 meters). Prachand is primarily designed for deployment in the high altitude areas of Siachen, Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.

It is ideal for deployment in high altitude areas. Capable of air-to-ground and air-to-air attack, equipped with missiles, can destroy enemy air defenses.

Prachand is capable of firing a variety of air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles and can destroy enemy air defense systems.

The inclusion of Prachand helicopters in the army will diversify the attack helicopter fleet of the Indian Air Force.

This helicopter has been manufactured under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.

Let us tell you that the government has made this deal to promote self-reliance in the defense sector under ‘Make in India’. The largest order of 83 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) has already been placed. The process of ordering 97 more LCAs has been completed. The purchase of 307 ATAGS howitzer guns has also recently received Cabinet approval.
