Film producer Pritish Nandi dies, wave of mourning in Bollywood and literary world

Mumbai: Popular poet, writer, film producer and journalist Pritish Nandi died in Mumbai on Wednesday. He was 73 years old. The news of his death has caused a wave of mourning in Bollywood and the literary world. Pritish made many great films in his career, including Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Chameli’, ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’, ‘Pyaar Ke Side Effects’. Actor Anupam Kher has shared a post expressing condolences on the death of Pritish Nandi.


Actor Anupam Kher, remembering his closest friend, wrote ‘Deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of my dear friend Pritish Nandi. He was a great poet, writer, film producer and journalist. He was my assistant and source of strength in my early days in Mumbai. We both had many similarities. He was one of the most fearless people I met. He was always larger than life. I learnt a lot from him. Lately we don’t meet often, but there was a time when we were together! I will never forget when he put me on the cover of Filmfare and ‘The Illustrated Weekly’. He was ‘yaaron ke yaar’ in the true sense! I will miss you and our time together, my friend. Rest in Peace.’

Pritish Nandy was born on 15 January 1951 in Bhagalpur, Bihar. He completed his education from La Martiniere College, Kolkata. He made his mark in Indian literature, journalism, film production and television field. Pritish was called a fearless journalist. In the 1980s, Pritish Nandy was the Times of India Group Publications Director, Editor and Publisher of ‘The Illustrated Weekly of India’, ‘The Independent’ and ‘Filmfare’ magazines. He founded ‘Pritish Nandy Communications’ in 1993, which is known for film production, television shows and digital content. Pritish has produced many popular films under his production house, including ‘Chameli’, ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’. His company’s digital shows include ‘Four More Shots Please!’
