Film actor Mithun Chakraborty will get the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, honor for his contribution to cinema

New Delhi. Legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to Indian cinema. This award will be presented to the actor on 8 October 2024 during the 70th National Film Awards ceremony. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced the award of this honor to the actor.

Won National Award with the first film itself

Mithun’s journey in the film industry has been inspirational. His hit films include Disco Dancer, Agneepath. Born in Kolkata, Mithun is an actor, producer and politician by profession. The actor has appeared in more than 350 films. These include Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi movies. Mithun made his acting debut in the year 1977 with the film Mrigayaa. He received the National Award for Best Actor for his first film.

Mithun’s career

At the beginning of his career, he appeared in small roles. Mithun worked in less screen space in Do Anjaane, Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan. Then the low budget film Suraksha released in 1979 helped him gain fame. The movie Prem Vivah also played an important role in boosting his career. Mithun worked in hit movies like Humse Badkar Kaun, The Entertainer, Shandaars, Trinetra, Agneepath, Hum Se Hai Zamana, Woh Jo Haseena, Disco Dancer, Taxi Chor. The actor debuted in Bengali cinema in 1978 with the movie Nadi Theke Sagare.
