New Delhi: Veteran actor Ravikumar Menon, famous for his work in Tamil and Malayalam cinema, died on Friday, April 04, at the age of 71. As soon as the news of the actor’s death came out, there was mourning in the South film industry. Ravikumar Menon, who has worked in more than 100 films, was ill for the last few months. He was undergoing treatment at Prashant Hospital in Velachery, Chennai. Ravikumar’s son confirmed this sad news and said that he died at around 9 am, where he was being treated for cancer.
According to On Manorama’s report, Ravikumar Menon’s body will be taken to his residence in Valsaravakkam, Chennai. Where he will be cremated. Everyone has been shocked to hear the sad news of his death and they are paying tribute to the actor on social media. Born in Thrissur district of Kerala to filmmaker KMK Menon and actor Bharathi Menon, Ravikumar carved a niche for himself in both the Malayalam and Tamil industries.
Ravikumar Menon made his film debut with the 1968 Malayalam film ‘Lakshaprabhu’ and was later seen in the lead role in ‘Ullasa Yatra’ (1975). In Tamil cinema, he was seen in some of the best films like Ashirvadham and K Balachander’s ‘Avargal’ (1977). In a career spanning five decades, Ravikumar appeared in both lead and supporting roles in films and television.
He shared the screen with legends like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal and Mammootty and worked with renowned directors like J Sasikumar and K Balachander. In the television world, he gained recognition with the TV show ‘Jannal: Marabu Kavithaigal’. Recently, he was seen in ‘Kannadhiree Thondrinal’ on Kalaignar TV and the Telugu show ‘Anubandham’.
