Doctor daughters fulfilled the wish of brain dead father, gave new life to three people through organ donation

Ahmedabad: 62-year-old Bhagwan Bhai Wala, living in Maninagar, Ahmedabad, was a victim of brain hemorrhage. During treatment, doctors declared him brain dead. After which, as per his wish, his two doctor daughters together decided to donate their father’s organs and gave new life to three people.

62-year-old Bhagwan Bhai Wala was a cloth merchant. On August 21, when he was working in his shop, suddenly his foot slipped and he suffered a serious head injury. He was taken to a private hospital for treatment. According to the MRI report, doctors immediately performed brain surgery but it was difficult to save him due to excessive blood spread in the brain.

After the surgery, doctors again did CT scan and apnea test of Bhagwan Bhai Wala and finally he was declared brain dead. After which, Bhagwan Bhai’s nephrologist daughter Dr. Kinnari Wala and oncologist daughter Dr. Ekta Chandarana decided to donate their father’s organs as per the wish of organ donation expressed by their father on World Kidney Day. After which both kidneys and liver of Bhagwan Bhai were received as organ donation.

Bhagwan Bhai Wala’s nephrologist daughter Dr. Kinnari Wala said that even after the surgery, there was no improvement in father’s condition. When he was declared brain dead, both of us sisters talked in the family and explained to everyone for father’s organ donation that instead of destroying all the organs in the last ritual, it would be better if his organs are donated to a needy patient. Our father had also expressed his wish to donate his organs on the last World Kidney Day, so finally we decided together to fulfill his wish and he was shifted to iKD Hospital for organ donation.

Dr. Kinnari said, I know the importance of organ donation, this is not an easy decision for any family. Being a nephrologist doctor, I have done many transplants myself. I know how happy the family is when a needy patient gets a new life through someone’s organ donation. My father helped people all his life and in the end he gave new life to three people.

Three people got new life
The iKD hospital located in the civil campus of Ahmedabad said that two kidneys and a liver have been received from Bhagwan Bhai Wala’s organ donation. Out of which one kidney has been transplanted in a 40-year-old man, the second kidney in a 46-year-old woman and the liver in a 43-year-old man.
