Doctor claims, victim’s ‘uncle’ had said- If the postmortem is not done today, I will shed blood!

Kolkata: A doctor who conducted the postmortem of the lady doctor in the rape-murder case at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has made a big revelation. Dr. Apurv Biswas, a member of the forensic team that conducted the postmortem, claims that a person who claimed to be the victim’s uncle had pressured him to do the postmortem quickly. He had told the doctors, “If the postmortem is not done today, I will shed a river of blood.”

Dr. Apurv Biswas was called for questioning by the CBI on Sunday. The investigating agency questioned him for about five hours. After returning from there, he has given his statement. He says that a person who claimed to be the victim’s uncle had asked for an early postmortem. But due to the delay in the papers, it took time to do the postmortem. BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari has posted a post on this statement of Biswas.

He wrote on the social media platform X, “The person mentioned by Dr. Apurba Biswas, who conducted the post-mortem of the victim, is former counselor Sanjeev Mukherjee. He was earlier a CPM counselor in Panihati. He later joined TMC. Currently, he is very close to Panihati TMC leader Nirmal Ghosh. This Sanjeev also signed the cremation certificate without the knowledge of the victim’s family.”

Shubhendu Adhikari further wrote, “Everyone knows that the victim’s last rites were done in a hurry. The police were monitoring the activities at the crematorium and were in a hurry to dispose of the body. Panihati MLA Nirmal Ghosh himself was present on the instructions of Mamata Banerjee. There is also another name/signature on the cremation certificate – Somnath Dey. Is this the same person who is a TMC leader?
