New Delhi: After the central government, now two states have given Diwali gift to government employees. State governments have announced an increase in dearness allowance of employees before Diwali. The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has increased dearness allowance for 17 lakh state employees and teachers. Apart from this, the Arunachal Pradesh government has also increased dearness allowance. Both the states have increased dearness allowance by 3 percent for employees and pensioners.
Both the states have decided to increase dearness allowance on the occasion of Diwali after the increase by the central government. This increase will be considered effective from July 1, 2024. After the 3% increase, now the dearness allowance will be given to the employees of UP government at the rate of 53% and it will be added to the salary by October 30.
How much money will be credited on Diwali?
Before Diwali, the outstanding DA from July will be sent to the employees’ account, which will be Rs 6,908. Also, the salary for the month of October will also be credited. Although 25 percent of the bonus amount of Rs 1,727 will be sent to the account, the remaining 75 percent will be transferred to the General Provident Fund account. This decision will increase the burden of Rs 1,022 crore on the treasury of the UP government.
These employees will also get Rs 7000
On Wednesday, UP CM Yogi Adityanath announced Diwali bonus for about 15 lakh non-gazetted state employees. After this announcement, the Finance Department issued a government order giving details of the bonus. A bonus equivalent to one month’s salary and up to Rs 7,000 will be given to eligible employees before Diwali. Apart from this, only those employees who have completed one year of continuous service by March 31, 2024 will be eligible for the bonus. These employees will get a maximum bonus of Rs 7,000, which will be given along with their October salary.
Arunachal Pradesh also increased DA
The Arunachal Pradesh government has also announced an increase of 3 percent in dearness allowance, dearness relief for employees and pensioners. This increase will be considered effective from July 1, 2024. With this increase, DA and DR will increase from 50% to 53%. With this announcement, 68,818 employees of the state will get the benefit.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced on October 23 that this increase is in line with the policy of the central government. Apart from this, the house rent allowance rates have been adjusted to 30%, 20% and 10% depending on the category of the city. This decision is estimated to have a financial impact of Rs 63.92 crore from July 2024 to March 2025.
