New Delhi: A passenger allegedly urinated on another passenger on an Air India flight going from Delhi to Bangkok on Wednesday. Sources said that Air India has informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) about the incident. When asked about the incident, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said that the ministry will take cognizance of the incident and talk to the aviation company. Naidu said during an event in Delhi, if something wrong has happened then we will take necessary action.
This incident has brought back memories of a similar case that happened about 3 years ago. This incident is of 26 November 2022. Air India flight (AI-102) was coming from New York to Delhi. Shankar Mishra, traveling in business class, had urinated on an elderly female passenger in an inebriated state. The matter came into the limelight when the woman complained to Air India and DGCA about a month after the incident.
After this the matter gained momentum. Then in January 2023, Shankar Mishra was arrested. Not only this, Air India was also tainted in this case. Air India was accused of negligence. Taking action on this, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also imposed a fine on the airline.
In this case, the employees also had to face the anger of the CEO of the company. The CEO had sent a mail to the employees. It said, the way the matter was presented, it is even bigger than that. Any wrong activity should be dealt with properly. This mail from the CEO came when DGCI wrote a letter to Air India expressing displeasure over the matter.
