Kolkata. Seven people died in a massive explosion in Dholahat area of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. This explosion occurred due to the explosion of fireworks kept there after a cylinder blast in a house, due to which the entire house was destroyed.
Cylinder blast sets fire to crackers
According to initial information, the explosion took place in the house of the Banik family in Dholahat area of Sundarban. This family used to work here for many years in making crackers. A total of 11 members lived in the house, out of which four are still missing. Due to this explosion, the crackers kept in the house caught fire and a big explosion took place. The explosion was so powerful that the entire house collapsed and there was chaos in the surrounding area.
Seven people died on the spot in this tragic accident, while many others are feared to be injured. Three children are also among the dead. As soon as the incident was reported, police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and started relief work.

West Bengal Police reached the spot on Tuesday morning in Dholahat area, where the explosion took place last night. News agency ANI has shared a video post on X. In which some policemen are seen standing outside the house where the explosion took place. In the video, the gas cylinder is seen thrown into a nearby pond. The windows of the house have broken and come down.
