Cyclone Dana moving towards Odisha coast, 3 lakh people evacuated from landfall area

New Delhi. Cyclone Dana, which is rising from the Bay of Bengal, is desperate to show its fierce form. It is moving towards the coast at a very fast speed. Cyclone Dana can reach between Puri in Odisha and West Bengal Sagar Island at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, for which the Meteorological Department has issued an alert. In view of this warning of the Meteorological Department, the state governments have started preparations to deal with the storm on a war footing.

Cyclone Dana, which is coming to Odisha and Bengal, will hit the coast today, October 24. When this storm hits the surface, its speed can be 120 to 130 kilometers per hour. Due to the storm, strong winds will blow in Odisha and Bengal and very heavy rains are expected. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Bengal and Odisha. In view of the storm, many NDRF teams are on alert in both the states. Flights have been suspended from Kolkata airport from this evening till tomorrow morning. More than 150 trains have been cancelled. The effect of the storm can be seen up to Bihar and Jharkhand.


Target to evacuate 10,60,336 people
The Odisha government has set a target of evacuating 10,60,336 people from 14 districts. However, now the focus is only on the coastal belt, which is likely to be affected by the cyclone.

Odisha Chief Minister appeals to people to stay safe
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi claimed that the state government is fully prepared to deal with the situation arising out of the cyclone. He has appealed to the people to stay safe and not panic. The Chief Minister said that he has deployed ministers and experienced officials in various districts to handle cyclone management.

3 lakh people evacuated from landfall area
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that a target has been set to evacuate 10 lakh people as Cyclone Dana moves towards the coastal area of ​​the state. More than 30 percent of its people have been shifted to safer places by Wednesday evening. That is, 3 lakh people have been shifted to safer places.

Where will the landfall happen?
It is estimated that the storm will hit the northern Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Dana Puri. Landfall may occur on Sagar Island near Bhitarkanika and Dhamara (Odisha) during midnight of October 24 to the morning of 25. During this time, winds can blow at a speed of 100-110 km to 120 km per hour.

Storm moving at a speed of 15 km per hour
According to the latest update, severe cyclonic storm Dana moved north-northwestwards at a speed of 15 km per hour during the last 6 hours over central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal. However, by the time of landfall, this speed can reach 130 KM/h.
